Training and development

Training and professional development is something that we take seriously at Blue Ribbon.

We believe that to be a well rounded Care Worker you must combine knowledge with on the job support and guidance.

We know that the excellent reputation we have achieved over the past 10 years can only be maintained by committing to selecting and training the very best Care Workers. This is why we invest so much time, energy and resources into the training and on-going development of all of our staff.

We have a determination at Blue Ribbon to continuously develop our own in-house training programme as well as proper facilities to ensure that we continue to build on the successes that we have established over the years.  Our Managing Director has been able to develop a unique training experience using industry guidance and his Professional Education qualification (PGCert).

At Blue Ribbon we are currently developing a purpose built skills lab to host our Blue Ribbon Academy. The skills lab will be designed to simulate a typical home so that we can train our Care Workers to specific scenarios.

Our Care Worker Training – Making Blue Ribbon Care Workers the Best They Can Be

The training team will lead you though a number of classroom sessions and practical activities designed specifically to give you the skills and knowledge to ensure that you are happy and confident in your role. When you graduate from our training programme you will be ready for your first client placement.

On the care training week you’ll learn about:

  • Understating your role
  • Duty of care
  • Professional Development
  • Handling information
  • Management of medicines
  • Safeguarding
  • Infection control & food hygiene
  • Health & safety at work
  • Basic life support
  • Mental Capacity Act
  • End of life care
  • Manual handling of people
  • Person centred care
  • Nutrition and Diabetes
  • Pressure area care
  • Dementia, Stroke and Parkinson’s

We have designed the care training week to ensure that everyone can get involved. Our training team is always around during breaks and lunch times to answer any questions and to provide one-to-one support.

All of our training has been developed in line with the Social Care Wales and Skills for Care standards.  Both organisations look at attitudes, values, skills and qualifications necessary to provide the best quality care.

Our Training programme is headed by our Managing Director, Noel Williams, who has recently qualified with a Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education (PGCert.) and oversees how training is delivered by our team of knowledgeable and experienced trainers.

“The training received is the best I've ever had. I learnt so much last time that I am looking forward to my next session. I can take what I’ve learned with me to all my clients and be sure that what I’m doing is the very best approach as the training comes from people who have been carers themselves and that makes a huge difference.”
